Frequently Asked Questions for Organisers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bookish Events for organisers?

Bookish Events is a discovery platform designed to make it easier for organisers to reach readers in one place.

Many book-related events are scattered across websites, social media, newsletters, and word of mouth, which makes them easy to miss and hard for readers to keep track of. Bookish Events brings author talks, book clubs, library events, festivals, workshops, and community gatherings together into a single, searchable directory.

Our aim is to make discovering and promoting bookish events simpler for everyone by giving organisers a central place to list events and readers one place to find them.

Is Bookish Events free to use?

Browsing events is always free for readers and attendees.

For organisers, there is a free organiser plan for occasional events, along with paid plans for hosting events more regularly or accessing featured placement.

This structure keeps the platform accessible for readers while giving organisers flexible options as their events grow.

What types of events can I list?

You can list a wide range of book-related events, including:

  • book clubs

  • author talks and signings

  • library events

  • reading meet-ups

  • festivals and panels

  • workshops

  • community reading groups

Events should be book-focused and hosted by an organiser, venue, or group.

How many events can I post?

The number of events you can post depends on your organiser plan:

  • Free organiser plan: 1 event per month

  • Organiser Plus: up to 10 events per month

  • Business Featured: unlimited events

This allows organisers to choose a plan that suits how often they run events.

How do I submit an event?

Once you have an organiser membership, you can submit events through your account dashboard.

You’ll be able to add event details such as date, time, location, an image, and a booking or information link, making it easy for readers to understand and attend your event.

Are events reviewed before being published?

Yes. All events are reviewed before being published.

This helps keep listings relevant, clear, and appropriate for readers, and ensures the events directory remains useful and trustworthy.

Please allow up to 48 hours for approval after submitting an event.

How does booking or ticketing work?

Bookish Events does not handle ticket sales or bookings directly.

Each event listing links to the organiser’s own website or booking page, where attendees can register or purchase tickets. This keeps organisers in control of their own bookings and communications.

What does “Featured” mean?

Featured events appear at the top of the main events page and relevant genre and location listings.

This placement helps key events stand out and be discovered more easily by readers browsing the platform.

How many featured events can I have at one time?

Business Featured members can have up to two featured events at a time.

Featured placement is designed to highlight important or flagship events rather than every listing, keeping featured sections useful for readers.

Can I edit my event after submitting it?

Yes. You can edit or update your event details at any time through your organiser account.

If changes are made after approval, updates may be reviewed again before appearing live to ensure accuracy.

Can I upgrade or change my organiser plan later?

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or change your organiser plan at any time through your account.

This flexibility allows you to adjust your plan as your events or needs change.

Where can I get help as an organiser?

Our Organiser FAQs are the best place to start and cover common questions about event limits, approvals, and featured placement.

If you need further assistance or have a specific issue that isn’t covered, you can contact us via the Contact page.

You’re Why Bookish Events exists!

We created Bookish Events to solve a common problem we kept hearing from readers: bookish events are hard to find, scattered across websites and social media, and too easy to miss.

Bookish Events brings book clubs, author talks, library events, festivals, and reading meet-ups together in one place, making it easier for readers to discover what’s on and for organisers to be found.

Our aim is to build a worldwide directory for bookish events, and we can’t do that without organisers sharing their events and helping spread the word. Readers want to find you, and this is the simplest way for them to do that.

We’re always developing and improving the platform. If you have ideas, suggestions, or feedback, we’d love to hear them. Bookish Events works best when organisers and readers build it together.
